食事の皿が下がると、蓮は持ってきた箱を開けた。チーズケーキの表面には、大きながある。「先に言っとくけど、売り物みたいにはできなかった」
サムが箱をのぞいた。「でも、今度は六つに切れてる」みんなが笑った。蓮は、の少ないを探すのをやめた。順番に皿に乗せて、隣へ渡した。
「二回目は、レシピを読み直して時間を増やしたんだよ。蓮が」サムが言うと、蓮は答えた。「冷蔵庫、何回も開けたけどね」「見るだけでから、今日は山になってない」
恵美が一口食べた。「下のクッキー、のがいい」そこは、蓮が薄く広げられなかった部分だった。「そこ、予定よりんだけど」「じゃあ、次も間違えて」
葵も食べながら笑っていた。「まだ、ちょっと。でも、これ、おいしい」蓮は「元気出して」と言いかけて、やめた。代わりに、自分も一口食べた。甘すぎなくて、もう一口食べたくなる味だった。
「次は、形もよくする」蓮が言うと、葵はすぐに答えた。「味は、このままで」「クッキーの厚さも」と恵美が続けた。蓮はスマホに「は厚め」とメモした。
