トースターが鳴った。春は立ちかけて、。「ごめん。見てほしいって頼んだのに、飾りだって言った」恵美は黙って春を見た。「何を出すか決める前に、いいねって言ってほしかった。んだと思う」春は食卓のメモを。隣では、サムが空の皿を持って待っている。「決めた。のお昼ごはんにしたい。かぼちゃのスープと、トースト二枚」春は立ってパンを、サムの皿に置いた。「一枚だと、スープにつけて食べてるうちになくなる。二枚で試したい」サムが新しい一枚をちぎった。「今、二枚目を試してる」恵美が少し笑った。春はその顔を見てから、もう一度頼んだ。「説明をだけ、最後に見てもらえる？」「そのなら。何を出すか決まったから、書けるね」春はスマホに『かぼちゃのスープとトースト二枚』と打った。「その下に『のお昼に』は？」と恵美が言った。春はその言葉を足し、画面を食卓の中央に置いた。何のスープかも、パンの数もわかる、小さなメニューができた。恵美はもう一度スープをすくった。「私の二枚目も、焼いてもらおうかな」「うん。俺も二枚目、食べようかな」春は食パンの袋を開けた。

Just before today’s conversation, the guests liked the soup, but its description was still undecided. Plain-form verb + ものの accepts the favorable reaction while marking that the expected next step had not followed. This supplied recap is a study example; it does not imply that today’s apology fails.
